About
This dashboard provides real-time Great Britain power transmission updates.
The National Grid is the high-voltage electricity transmission network across Great Britain. It automatically balances supply and demand second-by-second, connecting power generation sources like wind farms and gas plants to local distribution networks.
It provides automatic, static HTML figures sourced directly from Elexon BMRS, Carbon Intensity API, and National Energy System Operator.
The design philosophy prioritizes clarity, utilizing large block typography, high-contrast layouts, and straightforward data visualization.
Notable Grid Records
- Highest Wind Generation: 21.8 GW (Dec 2023)
- Highest Zero-Carbon Share: 87.6% (Jan 2023)
- Lowest Fossil Fuel Share: 2.4% (Apr 15, 2024)
- Lowest Carbon Intensity: 18 gCO2/kWh (Apr 15, 2024)
- Longest Coal-Free Period: 46 days (Spring 2023)
